Dear Stacy: It’s difficult to find the right — or even enough — words to express how thankful my wife and I are for the wonderful care your staff provided to me during my recent month’s long recovery from bladder surgery. Location: Bradford, MA - Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital

Category: Dietary

Cook  – Full Time 2nd Shift Position 10:30 am to 6:30 pm

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and performing all required kitchen duties. 
• Prepare and cook a wide variety of main courses and special diet food items for hospital patients, personnel and guests.
• Prepare meals and theraputic meals in accordance with ADA approved Diet Manual portion.
• Assist in food preparation for catering function inside or outside hospital grounds.
• Prioritize, organize and delegate multiple job functions.
• Monitor performance and compliance of line staff as it pertains to their respective job responsibilities.
• Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and sanitary manner and follow safety regulations in accordance with department and OSHA standards. Follow local, state and federal regulations.
• Operate all kitchen equipment. Report any inadequate equipment to Director for lockout/tagout.
• Monitor and record daily all equipment temperatures in kitchen, including Wing refrigerators. Monitor and handle temperature control of food daily.
• Provide input in assisting Department Director/Dietitian with employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Actively participate in Process Improvement activities.

Prerequisites:
• Familiarity with foods, sanitation standards, cooking methods and procedures equivalent to several years of practical trades training.
• At least two (2) years experience as a Cook preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Safe food handling and good sanitation practices, ServSafe certification by a repuatable institution is mandatory.
• Ability to calculate numbers and perform basic numeric conversions.
