Neurorehabilitation Program
The Whittier Neurorehabilitation Program is well structured and comprehensive. It is an inpatient rehabilitation program designed to assist patients with various nervous system disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis and Guillian-Barre Syndrome. The program helps patients reach their full potential in all areas of daily living including: physical, psychological, social, vocational, avocational and educational. This is achieved with warmth, compassion and efficiency.
Program Objectives
The team, which includes the patient, will:

2. Independent self care
3. Pain management
4. Bowel and bladder management
5. Skin care/wound management
6. Improved coping skills

• Physiatry led neurorehabilitation
• Physical Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Speech and Language Pathology
• Vocational counseling
• Neuropsychology
• Social work services
• Nutrition services
• Case management/patient advocacy
• Therapeutic recreation
• Nursing
• Psychiatry
• Skin care team
• Pain and spasticity management
• Wheelchair clinic/seating evaluation
• Adaptive equipment
• Orthotics and prosthetics
• Weekly team conference
Admission Criteria
• Age 16 or older.
• Neuromuscular disorder requiring continued medical management and comprehensive rehabilitation services.
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Guillian-Barre
• Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy
• Myopathies
• Muscular dystrophies
• Reasonable expectation for improvement.
• Need for two or more rehabilitation services.
