Dear Stacy: It’s difficult to find the right — or even enough — words to express how thankful my wife and I are for the wonderful care your staff provided to me during my recent month’s long recovery from bladder surgery. From Day 1 every single person with whom we came in contact treated us with respect, patience and kindness and always made us feel that my return to good health was really important to each of them! And, even on days when I took a little step backwards, along with professionalism, everyone brought cheer and even more encouragement...and this was from every level of your staff. The Whittier Pavilion has been honored as a Platinum status facility by Optum, formerly known as United Behavioral Health

Haverhill MA, May 25, 2016—With the continuing escalation of costs and the myriad of issues surrounding the delivery of health care, it seldom seems there’s a positive story about health care that is newsworthy. But one local mental health facility has been recognized for delivering highly effective inpatient care while doing so in a cost-efficient manner, and is having a great impact benefitting patients. 

The Whittier Pavilion has recently been awarded the Platinum designation by Optum, formerly known as United Behavioral Health, for the remarkable work the facility does here in the Merrimack Valley working with the Mental Health population. “I believe the Whittier Pavilion truly represents the epitome of what outstanding mental health care services can and should be,” said Dr. Rick Jemanez, National Medical Director, and External Health Plans. “They are a credit to their community and to the mental health profession at large.” 

The Whittier Pavilion was honored with the Platinum distinction based on clinical data collected by Optum over the course of an entire year. Optum looked at specific criteria, such as readmission rates and average length of inpatient stay, and compared the Pavilion’s data to that of other regionally-based facilities. Of the several key data points examined, the Whittier Pavilion exceeded all.
