Director of Performance Improvement/Risk Management/Patient Complaints Full Time Monday-Friday
Responsibilities: - Oversees the hospital-wide performance improvement, patient safety, and risk management programs, and patient/family complaint programs within the hospital to ensure appropriate compliance with regulatory bodies (the Department of Public Health (DPH), Department of Mental Health (DMH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory agencies), and to continually improve services to patients. - Serves as the Human Rights Officer (HRO); acts as the Risk Manager; and provides interdepartmental collaboration in meeting patient/family needs. - Provides and documents specific performance feedback to staff on a regular basis. - Participates in setting overall hospital goals that are appropriate and feasible within the hospital's plan, and leading and/or facilitating teams to achieve goals.
Prerequisites: - Current Massachusetts RN Licensure. - 3-5 years experience in adult/geriatric/adolescent psychiatric and/or substance abuse and other hospital care. - Minimum Education: Preferred B.S. degree. - Previous supervisory/teaching experience preferred. - Knowledge of psychiatric illness and substance abuse – acute and chronic. - Knowledge of Performance Improvement principles and methods. - Previous performance improvement coordination experience necessary.
Utilization Review Nurse/Coordinator Full Time
Responsibilities: - Reviews each patient’s care at regular intervals, from admissions to discharge, determining medical necessity, quality of care, appropriateness of place of service and length of stay. - Reviews cases with providers as needed for authorization of continued stay. - Communicates and facilitates appeals process of insurance denials and documents outcome.
Prerequisites: - MA licensed RN with minimum of 5 years nursing experience in psychiatric. - Must possess excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.
Safety Attendant/Escort Part Time, every other weekend Per Diem, all shifts Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of the nurse caring for the patient, remains with and continuously observes assigned patient/s. When not observing patient, escorts family and visitors on and off unit. - During constant observations, remains alert and in visual contact with the patient/s at all times, including times while the patient is/are bathing or toileting. - Adheres to patient care plan as directed by the Registered Nurse. - Reports observed patient behaviors to the nurse; reports any sudden change in behavior, suicidal attempts, gestures or threats immediately. Documents on checklist as assigned by Registered Nurse. - Accompanies the patient/s at arm’s length when escorting the patient/s outside his/her assigned room. - Assists the patient/s in daily activities as directed by the Registered Nurse. - Assures that the patient/s has/have no access to any potentially dangerous objects. - Assists nurse in restraining the patient/s, removing restraints, reapplying restraints, exercising patient, turning the patient/s and circulation checks. - Responds appropriately to events where their assigned patient/s is/are out of control or exhibiting inappropriate behavior. - Escorts visitors and families on and off units to/from lobby.

Admissions Representative Part Time - Evenings & Weekends
Responsibilities: - Ensure the referral and admission process is completed on all patients in a timely manner. - Effectively communicate with all referral sources to promote referral. - Processes all referrals by obtaining all necessary patient and insurance information for review by physician and the nursing department. - Initiates and compiles the Admissions Intake Form for referrals. - Distributes patient admission information to appropriate departments. - Addresses any outstanding issues from the day/night before including but not limited to: a. pending admissions b. anything requiring follow-up to a referral source c. questions and concerns from referrals - Receives incoming calls and faxes to the admissions department and responds and/or directs inquiries to appropriate staff/departments. - Maintains effective communication with the nursing department to verify census, potential and actual discharges and off hour admissions and bed availability. - Communicates referral information to off hour nursing supervisors by providing weekend/after hours log. - Updates the admission board throughout the day with accurate census, bed availability and discharge information. - Communicates with all referral sources (actual and potential) on a daily basis providing bed availability. - Diverts referral line as necessary, and makes sure that cell phone is in house, charged and monitored at all times. - Compiles and communicates daily referral, denial, and admission activities to appropriate personnel and departments. - Enter referral/admission data into computer RRM. - Maintain effective communication with the Marketing department; a. alert Director of Marketing to any potential issues involving customer/referral satisfaction b. provide daily referral, denial, and admission activities by submitting intake log as requested c. provide other referral information as requested - Assists with manually preparing the admission folder with appropriate forms and related admission items. - Assists with securing patient room and physician assignment from nursing personnel upon notification of a scheduled admission. - Assists with manually maintaining current files on active and inactive patients. - Assists with compiling each patient’s admission paperwork and forwards to corporate finance and Central Admissions. - Assist with updating and distributing hospital census to appropriate departments daily. - Assist with verification of insurance coverage prior to a patient’s admission to the hospital and thoroughly documents coverage information on referral/insurance form. - Assists with entering patient demographic information into computer CPSI.

Clinical Social Worker, LCSW/LICSW Per Diem
Responsibilities: - Participates in the formation of the total care plan for each patient based on medical, behavioral health, nursing and psycho-social needs of the patient. Patients and family are involved to the extent feasible in formulating the care plan. - Completes Psychosocial Assessment on newly admitted patients and files in record. - Liaisons with family members and responsible parties. - Arranges for and/or provides advocacy services. - Provides individual, group, and family therapy to in-patients and their significant others. - Participates in inservice education programs within Whittier Pavilion and outside facilities to maintain CEU credits for licensure. - Coordinates with outside agencies and community service providers, i.e., mental health organizations, to meet psycho-social and emotional needs of patients and families. - Implements working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other entitlement/benefit programs. - Participates in Performance Improvement program. - Attends assigned Interdisciplinary Improvement program. - Attends assigned Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings. - Participates in preparation for The Joint Commission. - Writes social worker progress notes. - Conducts Crisis Intervention with facility personnel and patients. - In conjunction with Case Coordinator, develops and implements discharge plan in coordination with patient, family and outside agencies. - Provides discharge planning as needed. - Consistently maintains awareness of changes in rules and regulations affecting facility operations. - Establishes open lines of communication with other service providers to facilitate integration and continuity of care. - Attends Whittier Pavilion Social Services Meetings.

Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of Nursing Management, organizes the activities occurring in the nursing station by peforming secretarial and receptionist duties, acting as a source of communication, and maintaining the physical environment of the area. - Maintains Medical Recors - Maintains communication within the unit and the staff as needed. - Prepares for patient admission and discharge. - Maintains efficient working environment in the unit. - Attends mandatory educational programs. - Participates in staff meetings.

Responsibilities: - Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the impact of disability upon an individual's, as well as families' physical, emotional, social, economic, and vocational status, taking into consideration age-related issues, and developmental levels over the life span (i.e., the adolescents' need to develop their own identity and cope with life changes; and the geriatrics' need to maintain their integrity and independence and adjust to the physiological aspects of aging), and meets competency requirements for the population served (adolescent through geriatric), as applicable to the job description. - Follows facility procedures related to control of equipment and supplies within the unit. Responsiblities: - Coordinates and prepares complete meal service (hot/cold menu items) for 65-bed behavioral facility. - Supervises subordinate staff. - Assists in function prep as needed. - Orders food/paper supplies.
Prerequisites: - Servesafe Certification preferred. - High School Graduate or GED. - 1-2 years experience in health care preferred. - MUST be available to work every other weekend.
Diet Aide FT, PT, Per Diem All Shifts
Responsiblities: - Utilizing dietary production sheets, prepare and assemble by mixing and measuring all cold side dishes for patient trays within recipe compliance. - Using tray assembly as a template arranges cold items in an attractive and appealing manner. - Prepare and assemble by mixing and measuring house and supplemental nourishments. Appropriately label and deliver nourishments to the respective units. - Handle and transport food trucks to the respective wings. Pick up and return food truck to the kitchen after completion of meal service. Verify silverware count before returning to kit. Arrange the trays in the carrier unit for washing machine operation. - Maintain work area in a clean, orderly manner throughout the day following all sanitation guidelines as authorized by the DPH, and the company’s Infection Control policies and standards. - Follow safety rules and regulations in accordance with the department and OSHA standards. - Wash floors and assist in other kitchen duties as may be indicated by volume or flow of work. - Remove accumulated trash from kitchen work stations and dispose of appropriately as per department policy and procedures.

Environmental Services Aide/Housekeeper FT, PT, Per Diem All Shifts
Responsiblities: - Performs assigned Environmental Service tasks to maintain hospital’s standards of environmental sanitation. - Performs floor care duties such as dry mopping, wet mopping, buffing and vacuuming. - Cleans and sanitizes surfaces such as toilets, sinks, mirrors, furniture and windows, etc. - May assist the maintenance department in moving objects or furniture. - The primary responsibility of any Environmental Services Aide is to make sure our facilities are cleaned and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. - Must be able to perform varied cleaning projects that will be assigned by their immediate supervisor (i.e. cleaning light fixtures-climbing a ladder is necessary). - Will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment within the department. - Empties, washes and lines waste receptacles. - Vacuums/sweeps carpets. - Replenishes supplies and stock (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.). - Dusts high and low areas.
