Dr. Mayer PIERRE MAYER, M.D. -
Medical Director

Pierre Mayer, M.D. is a graduate of Harvard College, Cambridge, MA and received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York. He completed his Residency in Adult Psychiatry at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. He is Board Certified in psychiatry. Dr. Mayer has previously worked on inpatient units at McLean Hospital, Cambridge Health Alliance, Hallmark Health and Malden Hospital. He was an Instructor at Harvard Medical School for 17 years and was an Investigator and Associate Director at the Psychopharmacology Research Laboratory at McLean Hospital. He also has had a private practice for many years.

Dr. Ruiz-Mellott
KATHERINE RUIZ-MELLOTT, M.D., M.P.H. -
Associate Director

Dr. Ruiz-Mellott obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago.  She completed her psychiatric residency and a clinical research fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.  Dr. Ruiz-Mellott obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health where she studied Health Disparities and Health Care Management.  Most recently she was a psychiatrist at Cambridge Health Alliance and an Instructor at Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Ruiz-Mellott is an active community psychiatrist who performs assessments and psychiatric consultations as part of a local emergency services program and is a consultant at a day treatment program for those with severe and persistent mental illness.  Dr. Ruiz-Mellott is Board Certified in psychiatry.

Dr. Stoll
ANDREW L. STOLL, M.D. - Psychiatrist
Andrew L. Stoll, M.D. is a graduate of Boston University and the New Jersey Medical School. His postdoctoral training included a fellowship in neuroscience and designation as the Ethel DuPont-Warren Fellow, both at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Stoll is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and was the Director of the Psychopharmacology Research Laboratory and the Program for the Development of Natural Treatments for Bipolar Disorder, at McLean Hospital. Previously, Dr. Stoll was Director of Psychopharmacology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, while also teaching and caring for patients. Dr. Stoll is a past recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award in the Harvard-Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Dr. Stoll was the first to report the use of omega-3 fatty acids as an effective mood stabilizer and antidepressant in a controlled study of bipolar patients, for which he won the Klerman Research Award from NARSAD (National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression), in 1999. His research interests include neuropsychiatry, bipolar disorder, treatment-resistant depression, omega-3 fatty acid and other natural product pharmacology, as well as the development of new pharmacological and nutritional treatments for a range of neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Stoll is the author of the book, “The Omega-3 Connection” (Simon and Schuster, New York (2001).

Dr. Soufi
PHILIPPE J. SIOUFI M.D. - Psychiatrist
Dr. Sioufi earned his Doctorate in Medicine at the University of Aieppo in Syria, his Diploma in Institutional Administration at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, and an M.S. in Healthcare Administration at Montreal University, Canada. His residency in Psychiatry was at Brockton Veterans Administration Medical Center, Brockton, MA. Professional experience includes Staff Psychiatrist at: Baldpate Hospital, Georgetown, MA; Middlesex North Resource Center, Lowell, MA; Choate Emergency Services, Lowell MA; Psychiatric Management, Chelmsford, MA; and at Lowell General Hospital, where he also held the title of Assistant Medical Director for Ambulatory Services in Psychiatry. He has been a psychiatrist on-call for many hospitals in Massachusetts, including Lowell General Hospital, Faulkner Hospital, and Taunton State Hospital, among others.

Dr. Tollman
JAMES D. TOLLMAN, M.D., F.H.M. - Hospitalist
Dr. Tollman received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at the Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, his Doctor of Medicine Degree at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed his Residency in Family Practice at Tufts University. His professional experience includes EmCare Hospitalist at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, Medical Director, Merrimack Valley Hospitalists at Lawrence General Hospital, as well as being on the Senior Medical Staff at Lahey Clinic. He is currently President of Essex Inpatient Physicians. Dr. Tollman was also an Infantry Captain in the United States Army. Dr. Tollman is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians, is active in the American Medical Association and was elected as a “Fellow in Hospital Medicine” in the Society of Hospital Medicine’s inaugural class.
