Thank You to the Staff at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center Thank you for your care and kindness while I was there to begin recuperating from a stroke I had on October 11, 2016...Whatever your role, thank you for your patience when I had a bad day...your strength when I didn’t have any, your encouragement when I had doubts, your “pep talks” when I was discouraged and needed them most, your sense of humor to add some laughs to the day (laughter is the best and cheapest medicine). Some of these may seem like little things to you, but they make the patient feel more like a person who matters instead of just the occupant of a specific bed. Director of Nursing – Full Time

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the development of nursing service objectives, performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel. 
• Assumes accountability for the development, organization and approved policies and procedures. 
• Directs, evaluates and supervises all resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Conducts daily resident rounds, initiates corrective action as necessary, reports problems to the Administrator. 
• Directs implementation of "Resident Bill of Rights"; monitors nursing service educational programs; conducts staff meetings to coordinate and implement nursing service policies and procedures. 
• Manages nursing service problems, emergency situations and initiate "life saving" measures within the scope of nursing practice. 
• Assumes responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state, JCAHO standards and local regulations. 
• Ensures availability of equipment for nursing personnel. 
• Directs and supervises scheduling of employees within established guidelines for allocation of nursing service personnel on duty. 
• Interviews and hires nursing service employees, conducts counseling interviews and initiates disciplinary actions as necessary. 
• Prepares written employee performance evaluations. 
• Assumes responsibility in the absence of the Administrator. 
• Participates with administration, social services and rehab services in the selection process for potential admissions. 
• Follows all Resident's Rights policies at all times. 
• Directs and organizes required documentation for Medicare and individual reimbursement systems.
• Reviews the total clinical record for accuracy. 
• Assures that each resident's interdisciplinary plan of care is maintained and implemented. 
• Oversees and coordinates nursing services with other professional disciplines by assisting and/or supervising in the development of individualized patient care plans, stressing rehabilitative and restorative activities and instruction. 
• Identifies safety hazards and initiates corrective action; observes infection control procedures; follows all facility safety policies and procedures. 
• Accepts "on call" status for emergencies which supervisory personnel cannot handle. 
• Performs other related duties as directed by the Administrator.

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BS preferred.
• Current licensure in Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of five years recent clinical long term care experience.
• Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a long term care facility.
• Knowledge of managed care, geriatric nursing, reimbursement systems, OBRA, HCFA, JCAHO and Medicare required.
• Knowledge in areas of management, labor relations, recruitment, budgeting and finance.
• Current Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards required.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the life span required.
