For Fawn Gale and her husband, Bill Gale, Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Bradford has become a meaningful part of their lives—and Fawn has found a special way to bring a little happiness to others each time she visits.

Fawn shared that Bill first came to Whittier in 2024 after slipping into a coma. He spent approximately a month and a half receiving physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy to recover. “The staff was amazing and great to all of us, and cared for my husband so well,” Fawn recalled.

Today, Bill continues his physical therapy regimen at Whittier’s outpatient rehabilitation department, where he has been a patient for the past two years. Fawn says she has continued to see a difference.

“I definitely see progress,” she said. Although Bill will continue to need a walker, Fawn explained that therapy helps “keep him moving and keep him going. We wouldn’t know what to do without this place. It’s amazing.”

Fawn has also experienced Whittier’s rehabilitation services herself, receiving therapy for her neck and shoulder. “They were wonderful,” she said of the team who cared for her.

Over the last couple of years, Fawn has developed a special connection with the people at Whittier. She loves crafts and hobbies, and while spending much of her time at home caring for Bill, creating things has become one of the ways she keeps busy—and spreads kindness.

When she comes to Whittier, she often brings handmade pipe-cleaner flowers, chocolates or other small surprises to give to staff and patients. “If I can brighten their day with just a little pipe cleaner flower or some chocolate or something, that’s what I give,” Fawn shared.

Her kindness isn’t limited to those caring for Bill. During her visit, Fawn even gave one of her creations to another client in outpatient simply because she wanted to brighten that person’s day. “That’s for anybody,” she said.

Fawn has known Whittier for many years and said that familiarity was one of the reasons she wanted Bill to come here when he needed rehabilitation. “I’ve known about this place forever,” she shared. “That’s why I wanted my husband to come right away.”

Now, whether she is accompanying Bill to therapy or handing someone one of her handmade flowers, Fawn continues to bring a little extra joy with her. “I just love to keep everybody happy.”

Her simple acts of generosity remind everyone who crosses her path that healing is about more than just medicine and physical therapy; it is about community, connection, and heart. As Bill continues to make steady strides under the care of his therapy team, Fawn remains right by his side, transforming the outpatient clinic into a place where kindness is always in full bloom.
