At Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Westborough, we are proud of the many success stories that come from our care. When a patient asks us to share their experience publicly, it is especially meaningful. One such patient, Mr. James Kennelly, shared a heartfelt review upon his discharge and encouraged us to share his story.

After suffering multiple falls and undergoing corrective surgeries, Mr. Kennelly’s physician recommended Whittier’s Transitional Care Unit (TCU) to support his physical recovery. During his stay, Mr. Kennelly described his experience using words like “FUN,” “LIFE-CHANGING,” and “GREAT.” He spoke highly of his physical therapists and the entire care team, noting their professionalism, encouragement, and dedication. He also praised the food, calling it “great,” and shared that the dietitian went above and beyond to accommodate and personalize his meals.

When Mr. Kennelly arrived at Whittier, he was wheelchair-bound and fearful that he might never walk again. Through intensive physical rehabilitation, determination, and hard work, he regained his strength, independence, and ability to walk. His motivation and commitment to recovery played a major role in achieving this incredible outcome.

We are incredibly proud to have supported Mr. Kennelly throughout his journey. Patients come to Whittier’s TCU facing significant challenges, and they leave stronger, more confident, and more independent — a transformation Mr. Kennelly himself attests to.

Mr. Kennelly became so close with his care team that he told us he fully expected to cry when it was time to leave. While we already miss him, we are incredibly fortunate to be part of success stories like Mr. Kennelly’s in our TCU.

Mr. Kennelly, thank you for allowing us to share, you are our latest success story.
