Some people are born with that natural ability to heal others, and Mike Griffin is one of them. With a calming presence, he displays extensive knowledge, creating a sense of well-being within his patients. Not only is he an incredible physical therapist, he’s also a kind and compassionate soul. As a patient once said, “He’s an amazing therapist and an amazing friend.”
During his time working as a physical therapist at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Westborough’s outpatient department, Mike worked with patients who had a high concentration of chronic back pain, and those with joint replacements, total hips, total shoulders, knees, occasionally ankle replacement, ACL reconstruction, and post-operation after spinal fusions. He also helped patients with neurological issues, whether from a head injury or stroke, or from conditions such as Parkinson’s and TBI (traumatic brain injury).
Mike once treated a patient who had an ongoing headache for years. After three sessions of working with Mike, the headache went away. This is only one example of what an incredible healer Mike is. One patient claimed that he felt better after only one session with Mike!
Mike was always the first to jump in when someone needed a hand. A diligent worker, patients from all over requested him as their therapist. They’re happy for him, yet heartbroken that he has retired. At Whittier, Mike said he will miss the people the most, and we will all miss Mike!
During his retirement, Mike plans to tackle home projects and relax. He will spend time riding his bicycle, possibly bringing a tent so that he can cycle for a few days. He’s an unforgettable therapist and we wish him so much happiness with his retirement plans.
We held Mike’s retirement party on May 29 at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Westborough. It was a bittersweet celebration, but we are so happy for Mike and the wonderful adventurous plans that lie ahead for him! Thanks for 12 amazing years, Mike! Whittier won’t be the same without you!
