Dear Teresa, Enclosed is your survey, however I wanted to add just a little note of thanks to all the Wonderful Nurses who took wonderful care of me while I was a patient at Whittier. All of the Physical Therapy staff and OT what a TEAM! I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!!! So caring and right on top of what you need to move forward. I have to say even the kitchen and the staff that cleaned the rooms were all so nice always asking how I was, and doing their job. The Staff at the front desk that answered you were all so pleasant also, I was impressed by Whittier Rehab and how well dedicated the employees were. They take pride in what they do. My Case Manager Jennifer was right there for me when I needed her. Terry from Nutrition, Thanks for all your help! Special Thanks to Moses, who always seemed to be there! A wonderful CNA, Washington Nurse at night, oh my so many Awesome Nurses! I wish I could remember all the names. Last of all I must say I had the most wonderful Dr. Struck, the BEST Doctor I have ever had! So in tune with every need and problem that I had. Thank you Dr. Struck for being there for me. Masconomet Healthcare Center

Masconomet Healthcare Center is pleased to announce
that Carl E. Johnson, MD has joined the Medical Staff
as an Attending Physician and Co-Medical Director,
effective June 1, 2017.

"I am very excited to welcome Dr. Carl Johnson as Co-Medical Director to Masconomet Healthcare Center.” says Kim Grasso, Masconomet Healthcare Center Administrator.  “I feel very fortunate to have such a well respected, top-notch physician coming on board to provide quality care to our residents. With his years of experience and wisdom, I have tremendous confidence that our residents will be in good hands and receive the care they so deserve.

Dr. Johnson received his undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Vermont, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He then earned his MD degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital.  Following this, he moved to Fitchburg MA where he had a practice in Internal Medicine and also served as the physician for Fitchburg State College and the Raynor Corporation.

In 1995 Dr. Johnson and his family moved to the North Shore where he joined The Medical Group internal medicine practice in Beverly.  He has been on the Medical Staff of Beverly Hospital since 1995 as well.  Dr. Johnson became a partner at The Medical Group and was selected as Medical Director of Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in 1999.  He received Kindred Healthcare’s highest honor in 2009 when he was recognized for his service at Ledgewood with their Distinguished Service Award.  That same year he was selected by the Chamber of Commerce as one of the 100 most influential people on the North Shore for his work at Ledgewood.

Dr. Johnson left his primary care practice in Internal Medicine in 2008 to become full time, onsite attending physician at Ledgewood.  With his full time presence there the facility was able to upgrade and expand its post hospital rehabilitation capability to its current level.

Dr. Johnson and his wife, Cathy, have lived in Boxford since 1996. Cathy Johnson is a Nurse Practitioner having earned her RN at the University of Florida College of Nursing and her Masters in Nursing/Nurse Practitioner degrees from the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing in Worcester.  She has been working as a Nurse Practitioner for the past 20 years and has been at Ledgewood since 2008.  She will be joining Dr. Johnson at Masconomet on June 1.

The Johnsons have two sons: Gregory, who has recently graduated from Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts as a Chef; and Garret, who is completing his first year at Harvard Medical School.  Besides their shared interests in geriatric and rehabilitation medicine, the Johnsons are avid gardeners and travelers.  They share their home in Boxford with their Springer Spaniel, Charlotte.

Dr. Johnson looks forward to the challenges of his new association with the staff and residents of Masconomet Healthcare Center.
