Thank you to the Administration of Nemasket Healthcare Center, The family of Marjorie M. L. would like to bring to your attention a very caring nurse—I only know her first name—Lisa. She is studying for her R.N. My Mother was in a real unresponsive state and wouldn't eat, talk or smile. Lisa suggested a medication may be causing this type of change in her personality. She's now back to her smiling & responding to everyone who will talk or ask her questions.

Whittier Home Health Care Agency

Whittier Acquires another Futuristic Tibion Bionic Leg as a Therapeutic Aid for its Home Health Care Agency. A First on the East Coast.

Whittier’s Bionic Leg contains a sophisticated computer and powerful small motors capable of helping a stroke patient weighing more than 200 lbs regain lost ability to walk normally. The Bionic Leg provides patients with assistance needed to participate more actively in sit-to-stand, overground walking and stair-climbing exercises that are critical to recovery of gait and balance following stroke. The Bionic Leg is not a prosthesis (artificial limb), or a device a stroke patient wears indefinitely. It is a robotic aid worn during therapy sessions over weeks or months, until the patient recovers their gait so they can walk – and continue to improve – without it. This new Bionic Leg is the third currently in use by Whittier. The two Whittier Rehabilitation Hospitals in Bradford and Westborough, MA have been using the Tibion Bionic Leg with great success for 3 years proving Whittier’s committment to remaining the leader of cutting edge healthcare in New England.

The Whittier Home Healthcare Agency is a member of the Whittier Health Network, and brings excellence in healthcare to Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. One of the underlying principles that sets the Whittier Home Healthcare Agency and the rest of the Whittier facilities apart from other providers, is their ideology that each patient and loved one becomes part of the family the day they begin treatment.

Stroke patients interested in being evaluated for Bionic Leg therapy should ask their physicians to refer them to the Whittier Bradford outpatient department at (978) 469-1425, or they can also contact the department directly.
