“My husband and I recently supported a friend who was hospitalized at Whittier for acute therapies following a stroke. This was a new situation for us, both in terms of this facility and this diagnosis.
Our friend’s treatment team was coordinated by Chris Grimm, case manager. Chris’ title minimizes the huge role she plays in the care/ treatment process. Chris is remarkably wholistic in her approach in that she solicits input from all stakeholders (family, friends, therapists.) and throughout that process communicates critical, meaningful information in jargon-free language. Not only does she assist with after placement, but she provides emotional support to caregivers as difficult decisions are being made.
Similarly, therapists, including but not limited to Jessica, Kim, Kelsie, Renee, Katherine and Sara (apologies to anyone we miss) provided exceptional hands on care. Of note, all were open to model and share their treatment sessions with family/ friends who were eager to support their therapies. Special thanks to Kelsie for sharing her knowledge and extensive expertise with us and for being M’s ‘go to’ person during times of stress!
