CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which they may want to ask questions.  As of April 2019, the Five-Star Health Inspection rating is now based on the three most recent standard health inspections and 36 months of complaint inspections.
